Steven is a Portland resident and part of a family of artists. His son Stephen 2.0 is a successful artist and web designer and daughter Allison is a professional graphic designer. His sister Katherine is a successful artist, master carver, and Docent for the Portland Art Museum.
He comes from the information technology field and started his journey into the art world in 2010. He works primarily with Venetian plaster. Having no training or education in art, his artistic awakening occurred when he learned how to apply Venetian plaster to his dining room walls. Enamored by the marble smoothness and visual texture of the plaster, he experimented with various colors on small pieces of sheetrock. Soon his trowel was used to paint pictures on sheetrock and then on canvas. Steven believes art comes from his subconscious mind and lays hidden on the canvas until he is able to discover it. Rarely does a painting turn out as intended but rather as it intends. His journey has only just begun and he doesn't see any limits on what's possible.
