Samsara Suffering

samsara suffering
16" x 20", plaster on canvas

The Sanskrit word Samsara means "journeying." In Buddhism, Samsara is defined as a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. It's the endless karmic cycle of life and death, endlessly being reborn into this world of suffering and pain, only to die once again. This creature struggles to break out of this endless cycle of misery.

My friend, Tim Lyons, bought this painting at my first art show at Gotham Tavern in Portland Oregon. It was my first sale. He saw it at my home and made me promise not to sell it to anyone but him.

Several months later he moved home to Milwaukee to be with his family. He had a great apartment and was happy to be home. Shortly after his move, he suddenly passed away. I remain discouraged and dismayed.
